airBaltic will most likely not resume Liepaja-Hamburg and Liepaja-Copenhagen flights

The Latvian national airline airBaltic will most likely not resume flights from Liepaja to Hamburg and Copenhagen in the summer season, as informed airBaltic Vice President Janis Vanags.

The airline's summer timetable has not yet been approved, and it is unclear presently whether these flights will be resumed. "If there are any flights from Liepaja at all, these will be flights from Riga to Liepaja most likely," stressed Vanags LETA.

As reported, airBaltic started operating the Riga-Liepaja flights in 2005, and direct flights from Liepaja to Hamburg and Copenhagen in 2007.

airBaltic turnover in 2007 reached LVL 159.43 million, a 38% increase on 2006. The airline's passenger turnover increased 41% to two million passengers. On the other hand, the airline's profit in 2007 decreased threefold to LVL 1.24 million.

In the first six months of 2008, airBaltic posted LVL 7.88 million in losses, as the airBaltic shareholder SAS informed earlier.
