EasyJet launches new flights to Vienna

The new route will be launched on the back of the success of a similar route between Luton and the Austrian capital.

EasyJet's UK general manager Paul Simmons said that Vienna "is now enjoying a real renaissance", having been celebrated for its historical past.

"We are seeing lots more tourists wanting to visit Vienna," he said.

"Although people still want to see its palaces, art galleries and museums, they now want to experience the romance of dances like the waltz where they originated, in some of the grandest ballrooms in the world."

Mr Simmons added that younger people are renewing their interest in the Austrian city, which is becoming known for its varied nightlife and riverside music scene.

A one-way ticket for the new route costs £29.99, including taxes.

The low-cost airline recently announced that it will increase its frequency of flights to Palma De Mallorca from Glasgow Airport this summer.
