Flights to Gatwick Stansted

When you think about booking a flights to Europe, Iceland may not be the first destination that pops into your head, but the little country, once named the most desirable place to live in (by a 2007 UN report), is not the skating rink that one might assume. In the summer, Reykjavik, Europe’s northernmost city, teems with tourists who bask in the white hot sun.

On May 1st, London flights to Reykjavik get a little shaken up. According to Business Traveler, the low-cost carrier, Iceland Express will switch its London-Reykjavik flights to start from Gatwick instead of Stansted from now on. The airline also allows pre-seat selection, more legroom (for an extra charge), and fast-track security through Gatwick, and is one of the only low-cost carriers to provide in-flight entertainment. The daily service will include extra flights to Gatwick on Thursdays and Fridays through the summer to accommodate weekend travelers. Flights start at $73 one-way, including taxes, Travel must be booked between April 20th and 22nd.

Fortunately, if you book a flight to Reykjavik in the summer, there are plenty of activities to choose from. The Festival of the Sea begins the first weekend in June, and Iceland’s Independence Day is celebrated on June 17th. Days later, on the 21st, the Viking Village of Hafnarfjordur revels in the Summer Solstice.
