Southwest announced its Boston schedule and fares Tuesday. Three daily flights in and out of Norfolk will connect to Boston through Baltimore-Washington International Airport.
Southwest's Boston-bound travelers now use nearby Providence, R.I., and Manchester, N.H.
No airlines currently offer nonstop flights to Boston from Norfolk. Travel Web sites indicate that fares now range from $54 to about $400 one-way.
Boston is a popular market out of Hampton Roads, with more than 136,000 annual passengers using either Norfolk or Newport News/Williamsburg international airport.
About 70 percent of those travelers fly AirTran Airways' low-fare nonstop service to Boston out of Newport News airport.
