No more flights to

The discontinued flights are operated by Piedmont Airlines, which is owned by US Airways.

US Airways going to discontinue more than 100 commuter flights at LaGuardia airport in New York. That means 300 workers will lose their jobs.

Piedmont said it has to trim its workforce by about eight percent. The company operates commuter flights from Charlotte, which is also the biggest hub for US Airways.

The airline also announced Wednesday it plans to being flying from Charlotte to Sao Paulo, Brazil. US Airways plans to begin flights to Tokyo from its hub in Phoenix.
