Flights back to normal at East Midlands Airport after ice delays

FLIGHTS were back on time at East Midlands Airport this afternoon after ice on the runway caused several delays.

The runway had to be closed for over an hour at 6.30am while workers de-iced it, which had a knock-on effect on all outgoing morning flights.

One flight, jetting to Rome, was delayed by two hours, while others were only affected by a matter of minutes.

A spokeswoman for the airport said there had been a backlog of flights but it was clearing up over the afternoon.
