Multi-millionaire Simon Cowell ordered his personal chauffeur to drive an incredible 808 miles - just to ferry him on a three-mile journey.
The Britain's Got Talent supremo ensured his Rolls-Royce was on call to drive from his Glasgow hotel to the show's auditions at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.
The journey between the two venues is just 2.8 miles.
A show source revealed: "Simon takes his Rolls-Royce wherever he can - it matches his personality down to a T.
"Like all of his clothes the exterior is black but inside - just like his kilowatt smile - it's pure white." The £300,000 Phantom had to be driven the length of Britain from Simon's London base to Glasgow.
And with the luxury motor doing a gas-guzzling 18 miles per gallon - and today's petrol prices - it's a good job Cowell's crop of acts are riding high in the charts.
