The direct Guam - Kansai flights will operate daily by the airline's Boeing 737-800 fleet, each aircraft with a total of 155 seats, including 14 business class seats and 141 economy class seats.
Continental Micronesia will restart its non-stop flights from Guam to Osaka's Kansai Airport beginning Dec. 23, 2009, according to a statement issued by the airline yesterday.
Continental Micronesia first started operating direct Guam-Kansai flights on Sept. 4, 1994, when the Kansai Airport was newly opened, but suspended flights on Oct. 1, 2003.
With the reintroduction of the Guam-Kansai direct flights, Continental Airlines will increase its service from the current eight to nine cities in Japan: Sapporo, Sendai, Niigata, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Okayama, Hiroshima and Fukuoka.
“I am pleased that we are able to reintroduce the Guam-Kansai service after six years of its suspension,” said Charles Duncan, managing director of the Asia-Pacific Sales & Marketing for Continental Airlines. “The Guam-Kansai route will mark the ninth city Continental Airlines provides service in Japan. We look forward to providing customers in the Kansai area with Continental's new services not only to Guam, but also to various resort destinations via Guam such as Saipan, Palau and Cairns.”
